At Envision Wellness, our dietitians work with patients in two main ways: preventive nutrition counseling and medical nutrition therapy (MNT).

• Preventive nutrition counseling helps you take steps toward better health, prevent chronic conditions, and feel your best through everyday nutrition and lifestyle choices.

• Medical nutrition therapy (MNT) is more specialized and is used when you’re already managing a condition such as diabetes, heart disease, or kidney disease. In this case, your dietitian creates a personalized plan to support your treatment and help manage symptoms.

Whether you’re coming in for prevention or MNT, our dietitians are here to meet you where you are and guide you toward your goals. Here’s a look at what happens before, during, and after your visit.

How Our Dietitians Start the Day

Our dietitians know the importance of self-care, so they start their mornings with a balanced breakfast- something with protein, fiber, and healthy fats to stay energized, plus a cup of coffee. They also fill up a big water bottle to keep hydrated throughout the day.

When they arrive at the office, they spend a few minutes getting organized: logging into the system, checking messages, and looking over the schedule so they’re ready for each patient.

Before Your Appointment

A lot of prep work happens before you even walk into the office. Your dietitian reviews your health information to understand your needs and goals.

• If you’re coming for preventive counseling, they’ll look at your chart notes, labs, diagnoses, and any food logs or Cronometer entries you’ve shared.

• If you’re coming for medical nutrition therapy, they’ll take a deeper dive into your health history, including test results (like blood pressure readings or glucose monitor data), your medications, and notes from any specialists you’ve seen.

This way, your dietitian is ready to make the most of your time together.

During Your Appointment

Your appointment is a two-way conversation. Your dietitian wants to hear about your health goals, challenges, and questions.

For preventive counseling, you might talk through:

• Your eating habits and daily routines

• Your nutrition needs based on things like age, activity level, and lifestyle

• Barriers you face, such as cooking skills, food access, or cultural preferences

• Areas where you’d like support, like meal planning, mindful eating, or goal setting

For medical nutrition therapy, your dietitian will also:

• Discuss how nutrition and exercise relate to your condition

• Review medications for possible food–nutrient interactions

• Suggest therapeutic diets or nutrition strategies tailored to your diagnosis

• Monitor progress with labs, symptom management, or nutrition support when needed

No matter what brings you in, your dietitian will work with you to create a realistic, personalized plan that fits your life.

After Your Visit

The work doesn’t stop when the session ends. After your appointment, your dietitian will:

• Document your care plan and the recommendations you discussed

• Review any surveys, screeners, or food logs you completed

• Coordinate with your provider or specialists about labs, medications, or next steps

• Stay connected with the Envision Wellness nursing team to keep your care on track

All of this helps make sure you get seamless, coordinated support.
